ResearchWe pursue two main research directions: neural prosthetics and basic neuroscience. First, we are exploring a new way to provide sensory feedback in the operation of a neural prosthesis: cortical microstimulation. We hope this will improve the controllability of neural prostheses. Fast, accurate feedback about the position of the prosthetic device may create the sensation that the prosthesis is “embodied”. Second, how do movements of the eyes and the hand interact at a neural level to enable fast, accurate reaching? |
